Formerly known as Christine Lam, Faerie is a 20 year old independent singer/songwriter based in NYC. She is influenced by folk, alternative rock, indie pop/electropop sounds. Growing up, she was heavily influenced by the television shows and movies she watched, like Disney movies and television shows. Things like that inspired her to learn the basics of piano and guitar. This also inspired her to create her own YouTube channel in 2007.
In her high school years, she was enrolled in her school’s chorus and theatre program. She was also taking voice lessons, which added to her performing experience. Christine was casted as Annie in her school’s production of Annie in 2011 and also performed On My Own from Les Misérables on the stage of Carnegie Hall in Manhattan for The Outstanding Filipino Americans in New York awards ceremony.
She decided to pursue songwriting and recording music near the end of her high school years. This lead to her to create a SoundCloud account, which included free downloads to her covers, demos, and collaborations with independent music producers.
Christine is currently studying arts administration (specializing in music). She reached 1600+ subscribers on YouTube after 7 years of owning and posting on her cover channel. Christine and her friend, Hannah Del Rosario, entered a singing contest on YouTube to see and meet One Direction in Orlando, Florida in October 2014. In November, they received an email saying that they were among the few winners from the USA. This once in a lifetime experience inspired Christine to keep pursuing her music.
As of July 2016, she decided to change her name to Faerie. This name represents the fantasy, the beauty, and the evil that she plans to bring into her music and image. The name change represents a new start for her journey in the music industry. More updates will follow.
